What happened to JYJ’s OST for Sungkyungkwan Scandal?

Fans were delighted to hear that TVXQ’s Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu, or JYJ for short, would be coming back with a track called “Found You” for the OST of Sungkyungkwan Scandal. However, the drama had already passed its second week, and the song is nowhere to be found except on the actual episodes itself.

Many fans believed that they were creating hype for the actual release of the song later this month, but it has been revealed that that is not the case.

A representative of Raemong Raein, the production company of the drama, recently stated, “We contacted many companies about the official release of the OST with the TVXQ members, however, things aren’t going smoothly. We believe that a certain company is preventing us from releasing the song through music portal sites. We are planning to make an investigation with the Fair Trade Committee.”

The song is not available on major music sites such as Melon, Mnet, Dosirak, and Cyworld, as no searches came up for “SungKyungKwan OST”. However, the drama, MBC Playful Kiss, had its OST available since the first episode, plus, the first broadcast was later than SungKyungKwan Scandal’s.

Since Raemong Raein could not distribute the song, they are currently in talks with foreign companies.

The company also stated that SM Entertainment could have a part in this issue.

KMP Holdings is a company made to distribute songs for major entertainment companies such as JYP, YG, and SM. Due to the lawsuit with the members and their former company, it is considered that SM is blocking KMP Holdings from distributing the OST.

A representative from an unnamed company stated, “I know that KMP Holdings is contacting several companies by telling them to not distribute the song by the three members. They also threatened that if they did, they will not give them the rights to release songs from other artists under them.”

A representative from another company stated, “Many companies were interested in releasing the OST before the drama had aired, however, they gave up after finding out that they could lose the rights to other songs.”

The Fair Trade Committee had said that they would like to investigate the case if Raemong Raein files a lawsuit. A representative from the committee stated, “We would have to go in to further investigation, however, if a company is using their position to stop an artist’s song being released, it is considered unfair.”
