2NE1 invited to MTV Video Music Awards in Japan













Female idol group 2NE1 has been invited to the MTV World Stage Video Music Awards Japan (WS WMAJ), according to MTV Korea on Wednesday.

The girls were chosen as special guest stars at the WS WMAJ, which will be held at the Yoyogi National Stadium in Japan on May 29.

Fifteen other celebrities including Japanese group ICONIQ, model Miho Tanaka, singer Fukuhara Miho, boxer Masato and singer Vanness will also attend the event.

American pop singer Ke$ha, Somali-Canadian musician K’Naan and Japanese stars AI, Bradberry Orchestra and Miliyah Kato have been set to take the stage to give individual performances.

Meanwhile, voting which will determining the winners for various awards at the event are under way on MTV Japan's official website till May 9.

K-pop idol group Big Bang will be competing under the category for Best New Artist Video for their song "ガラガラ GO!! (GARAGARAGO!!)" and Best Pop Video with their "Let Me Hear Your Voice," while TVXQ's video "Share The World" has been nominated for Best Group Video.

Other noteworthy mentions include Lady Gaga with five nominations, while Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Amuro Namie have scored three nominations each.

Four-member group 2NE1 made their first appearance with Big Bang for the LG cellular phone commercial on March 2009.

They released their first single "Fire" in May 2009 and have since released several hits including "Lollipop," "I Don't Care" and recently "Try To Follow Me."
