Super Junior's Kang-in planning to enter military

Super Junior member Kang-in is planning to take a break from his singing career and go to the Korean military, according to his agency on Tuesday.

In a phone conversation with Asia Economic Daily, an official at SM Entertainment said that "Kang-in recently decided to apply to serve full-time in the army" as part of fulfilling the country's two-year mandatory military duties.

The official explained, however, that the military entrance date "has not been set as of yet," adding, "He didn't even participate in Super Junior's fourth studio album, which comes out on May 13 because he has been spending time self-reflecting after causing [last year's] scandalous incident."

Kang-in, 25, made headlines last October when he was caught drunk driving and fleeing the scene after colliding into two taxis. He turned himself into police several hours later, and was later summarily indicted with a fine of eight million won charged by the Seoul Central District Court.

The singer, whose real name is Kim Young-woon, is one of the 13 members of popular idol group Super Junior.
