ZE:A attracts thousands to Thailand fan meeting

Korean idol group ZE:A attracted thousands of fans during their recent visit to Thailand, part of their Asian promotion tour held July 26 to 30, according to their agency Star Empire on Monday.

Star Empire explained in a press release that the nine-member group pulled off various activities in Thailand on July 29 including a fan meet, autograph signing session and a commercial shoot for United Food's 'YOYO Jelly.'

So far, the only other Korean group to have shot a solo commercial in Thailand is boy band 2PM, which includes Thai-American member Nichkhun.

The fan meet, held two hours after the commercial shoot and in the rain, is said to have brought out some 50 local media outlets as well as some 2,000 local fans. The group performed their singles "Mazeltov", "All Day Long" and "Separation Drip" as the crowd sang along in the rain.

The event also featured kick-boxing champion Mr. Prem, who invited the boys for a kick-boxing battle.

"This is our second visit to Thailand after the Mnet music show 'Show King M In Bangkok' and we did not know [fans] would welcome us and show such passionate response like this...... We were very surprised and are grateful," an official at Star Empire was quoted as saying.

He also explained that ZE:A, who made their debut less than a year ago, are receiving numerous requests for solo concerts and commercial shoot offers from overseas.

ZE:A, which stands for "Children of Empire" in Korean, splashed onto the local music scene last January with their mini-album "Nativity" featuring their title track "Mazeltov." They released a follow-up record in April titled "Leap for Detonation" and third single album "Level Up" last month.

With the support of Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), the boys are set to continue the Asia tour to Taiwan later this month, and in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines in September.
